In preparation for future community events, we have produced a DL sized Postcard which showcases the three distinct zones within the proposed Composite 120km Shiraz to Shore and Richmond Vale Rail Trail (S2S/RVRT) Shared Pathway in the Hunter Valley Region of NSW, Australia; see illustration in Pic01.
Pic01: Postcard‑based Promotion (August 2026) A promotional postcard for the RVRT Supporters’ Group showcasing the proposed 120 km Composite Shiraz to Shore (S2S) and Richmond Vale Rail Trail (RVRT) Shared Pathway. The front of the postcard features a stylised map highlighting the three pathway zones--Wine Country & Heritage Zone, Rail Trail & Wetlands Zone, and Coast & Lake Zone--along with distances for each. The design includes labelled towns, pathway segments, and coloured zone markers. The back of the postcard displays a QR code and accompanying text inviting viewers to access RVRT Supporters’ Group news items. Additional text summarises the trail’s purpose, community origins, and regional benefits, noting that the pathway spans four LGAs and requires strong community and government support. A list outlines key themes and locations within each zone, including vineyards, murals, heritage sites, wetlands, and coastal areas. Caption information included: Pic01 illustrates the elements within the Postcard‑based Promotion (August 2026), showing the stylised map on the front (see Pic02) and the QR code and explanatory text on the back (see Pic03), presenting an overview of the trail and the key themes and locations within each zone. See Pic04 for additional links.
Pic01: Image illustrating the elements within our Postcard-based Promotion (August 2026) – Stylised Map on Front (see Pic02) and QR Code and Text on Back (see Pic03) presenting a trail overview and the key themes and locations within each zone. See Pic04 for Additional Links.
Ongoing goals: to increase awareness about the Composite S2S/RVRT Shared Pathway proposal and its benefits; and to help progressively move this proposal forward.

A simplified Stylised Map is shown on the Front of the Postcard (see Pic02), while the Back presents an overview of the trail and the key themes and locations within each zone (see Pic03). Additionally, News Items on our website can be accessed via the QR code on the Postcard.

The Links referred to on the Postcard are listed in the Notes to Pic03 or at the bottom of this Post.
You can also download a Postcard ‘Handout’ containing all of this information and related links.

As illustrated in Pic04, there is an associated YouTube video (3 Min. 41 Sec.); and you can read more about the current status of the S2S/RVRT proposal in our July 2026 Newsletter.

Ongoing support is required from local communities, businesses and all tiers of government.

Shorter, localised trail segments (e.g., connecting schools, parks and town centres) are likely to be suitable candidates for existing funding programs; however, non-urban trail segments will require targeted funding – which includes the majority of the outstanding ‘Rail Trail & Wetlands Zone’.

Please express your support for the Composite S2S/RVRT in communications with your local Council and Councillors, and with your State and Federal representatives, especially over the next 6 months during the lead up to the NSW Election (March 2027).

You can also show your support by joining (no fees) or following the RVRT Supporters’ Group.

The map is divided into three colour‑coded zones: • Wine Country & Heritage Zone (45 km) shown in magenta, covering Belford, Rothbury, Pokolbin, Nulkaba and Cessnock. • Rail Trail & Wetlands Zone (34 km) shown in green, following the Richmond Vale Rail Trail corridor through Kurri Kurri, Buchanan, Richmond Vale, Stockrington, Seahampton and Shortland. • Coast & Lake Zone (41 km) shown in blue, linking Glendale, Eleebana and Newcastle via the Fernleigh Track and FAST corridor. The map includes walking and cycling icons, directional arrows, and labelled segments (S1–S7, S2a, S5a, S6a). A “Tramway Track & Extension to Lake” is marked near the green zone. The overall design presents a clear visual overview of the full pathway from Wine Country to the Coast and Lake areas. Caption information included: Pic02 shows the stylised map featured on the front of the DL‑sized postcard used in the August 2026 Promotion.

ALT text – Pic03: QR Code and Text on Back of DL‑sized Postcard (August 2026 Promotion) The back of the DL‑sized postcard features a clean informational layout presenting an overview of the proposed 120 km Composite Shiraz to Shore (S2S) and Richmond Vale Rail Trail (RVRT) Shared Pathway. The design includes two QR codes labelled “RVRT Supporters’ Group” and “Link to News Items – August 2026.” Text on the postcard summarises the trail concept, noting that the Composite S2S/RVRT spans four LGAs and includes three distinct zones from Wine Country to the Coast and Lake areas. It describes the long‑standing community origins of the RVRT proposal, the Hunter JO’s launch of the S2S concept, and the multi‑layered local and regional benefits expected from the combined pathway. The flyer encourages public support and outlines key themes and representative locations within each zone, including vineyards, heritage parks, murals, railway tunnels, wetlands, conservation areas, urban renewal precincts, and coastal pathways.
