Abstract
Community built rail trails in Victoria and NSW.
Planning and developing rail trails are as much about building social and human capital as they are about building physical infrastructure. Ant will compare governance structures of North East Victoria rail trails and the evolving NSW rail trail system. Ant will also give practical examples of how the regional community have “made the impossible possible”, s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g resources to build the 85km High Country Rail Trail with 33 bridges, fencing, etc. Many of these strategies are applicable to establishing rail trails in NSW.
